Beaded trim

I'm going to add a beaded trim to a jacket that didn't call for. It is a Butterick pattern #3910 I'm making view A and I would like to know if any of you have a good suggestion as to how to put it in without leaving the stitching showing through. I put a blind hem in the dress part and think it would look nicer it I did the same on the jacket. thanks for the help Donna .http://

Two questions:

  1. What type of beaded trim? The fringe kind that hangs from a ribbon? Or do you mean just putting beads on?

  1. Where ya putting it?

I'm going to go on the assumption that you are adding this around the edges and the hem area.

With that assumption made what I would do is BEFORE hemming and finishing the edges, lay the beaded trim face down on the right side of the fabric. Stitch it into place on the top and bottom edge of the ribbon tape (if this is what you are using), then flip to the wrong side and hand sew invisibly in place.

Yeah you are sooooo right about that. I use to hate the McCall's online page. They didn't have all their patterns on there. But they are better now.
