CROSSPOSTED and OT: question about mechanics

You take your children back to the dealer to be serviced? ;-) But wouldn't that be you?

It is my fervent hope no one on this or any other sewing newsgroup ever has to go through my experience. I have sent a certified letter to Singer corporate AND to the local "dealer", outlining my recent very poor experience, and the complete lack of support from the local dealer. I don't hold out any hope of getting any kind of compensation from Singer, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings any if the dealer lost the Singer franchise.

Your dealer might be better, but I've had plenty of problem with cars serviced by the dealer. Missed major problems they were told about. Installed wrong parts. Left pieces out. Think about it, they don't really have much incentive to keep your car running for a long time. They want you to buy a new one in a few years. I only go to the dealer for the first few services, then for warranty/recall work. Find a good independent garage after that.
