Took the embroidery machine in today. Looks like about a week. They had 4 other machines come in today too. And I got there just after lunch time. Must be something in the air......or the machines are tired after all the holiday gifts???

*sigh*

hmmm........ Well, now let me think about this......... I have a back up sewing machine. I have a back up serger. I'm thinking maybe I need a back up embroidery machine too!!! What a good idea, Beverly. I'm sure Mike will be thrilled you thought of it. LOL!!!! (I'll just tell him an inexpensive embroidery machine would be less than some Porsche parts. I know how to negotiate. LOL)

You really do need a back up with the huge pillow case job you have in the works. The only project I *for sure* have planned for my embroidery machine right now is a pair of these:

DD and her BFF both play role playing games. I found that bag pattern and just howled!! It's a perfect thing for both of them. I have them started. I marked out all the triangles on black fabric and then started embroidering the numbers in white thread. (they both have black dice with white numbers.) I can do 3 triangles before I need to rehoop. I got to the 5's (I did two of each number) when the issues started. I'm hopeful that a good cleaning will do it.

Sharon, Those are neat bags for any kid playing games. I've bookmarked the site for later use, maybe. Emily

Glad you liked them, Emily. I thought they would make kind of fun bags even without the numbers on them to make them look like a die. You could do different colors, etc. All kinds of possibilities. If you poke around on the site, there are actually two styles of bag. One is 20 sided, the other is 12 sided. (there's a link to the 12 sided bag just underneath the picture of the 20 sided one. The first picture.)

I'll post pictures when I get mine done. Hopefully, I will be able to get to those soon. (which would mean the embroidery machine wasn't horribly ill and will come home soon.)

I forgot to tell you the two gals working in the sewing machine place are definitely Our Kind of Folks........ They asked me if I was bringing my machine in for a "well baby check up." LOL

That's funny, Sharon, and you're right: our kind of gals. We woke up to temps in the low 40s this morning, after days of 80+; The thermometer says

71 in the house, but I'm cold. I like the 80-degrees better, but not above 90, please. Emily

I did all the personal tax returns for DH and me from the time we were first married, and continue to do my personal returns, Fed and State.

And for several years I generated the 1065 return for the family investment partnership, I was the managing partner. We had a CPA do the partnership return the first year after forming the partnership, then I reverse-engineered the return so that I would understand it, and make it possible for me to do them for all the years that followed. I maintained the books and sent out the Schedule K-1 forms to the partners.

This might sound weird, and I wouldn't say I'm an expert, but I have always found it very satisfying to complete our tax returns. I did them by hand, with a calculator, for years. I do rely on software now (TurboTax has been my go-to) to file them now. I also prepared quarterly payroll tax deposits for a real estate office, for whom I was the office manager, for several years. I enjoy the feeling that I am following a process, figuring it out, completing the steps, and arriving at a good conclusion. Weird is what my spouse calls it....

I've 'allowed' DS to do my taxes since we moved into this house together in

2001 and he does have a computer tax program on his computer and I don't.

Since I started paying taxes back in ancient times, I did my own and sometimes did my parents. I always used the short form, since with no major exemptions. DS still used the short form for me.

Hopefully, he will have it ready for my signature tomorrow. Emily

Saw my tax lady yesterday, will see her again Tuesday when I take a form I have to pick up from my credit union. She's been doing my taxes for quite a few years now, and at much less than I paid the last CPA -- the one who said she'd never had a client bring in their information so well prepared and organized, then charged me $750 for doing the return. Granted, the danged thing looks like a book when it's done.

Doesn't sound the least bit weird to me! But my kids think is strange I LIKE to play with numbers. ;-)

For several years after I started using Turbo Tax, I did my complete returns first with paper, pencil and calculator, but after 10 years with NO errors in the software I finally decided it was safe to just use the software. Mine is now a fairly uncomplicated return, just SS and RMDs from IRAs, a little interest and dividends.
