phew! looks like I'm back!

Well looks like I am back up and running.

My old laptop contracted a virus and died. Still trying to get this new one set up and loaded with stuff. Thankfully, I now have email and newsgroups back. I see I'm posting under my real name, I think I'll go try to change that back to marigold.

Vista is certainly different. Got some neat features but will take a little getting used to. The new laptop is slightly different too. I have a number pad on the right side of my keyboard, which will be really nice for doing books (I hope). I've spent the last 4 years without one so will have to re-learn how to use it. Also my shift keys are the same size as the letter keys so I keep hitting something else. Something else to learn.

I've missed reading about all y'all's lives.

Well off to make a few more changes to this machine. Take care everyone.

Did you happen to get the virus associated with this warning?

formatting link
received a warning yesterday about one that was partly false but partly true. The warning was similar to the last part of the Snopes page (Note) where they said it had been around for quite a while. But it also mentions there IS a virus that is legit. Sigh....I wish people would find something more constructive to do with their programming "talents".

I'm not sure Kathyl, it could have been. I'm only suspicious that it came with that e-card. I know that my computer started acting up right after. Then it wanted to do a windows update, which froze everything up solid. I had to take the battery out to make it shut off. It was downhill from there. I'm going to mail the old laptop to my son. He will check things out and see if it is the memory or the CPU that is fried. he is a computer geek by profession. DH is a computer geek for fun.

I really should know better than to click a link in anything these days. Specially since it is my laptop that all of our business is done on.
