I'm back...sort of

Hi All...I couldn't wait any longer. I missed everyone too much, so I'm going to brave google groups. I can't believe how long it has been since I posted here. It is going to take Earthlink another three weeks to hook up our phone and internet. Thank goodness my daughter has a laptop and there is wireless internet here.

We have been in the Chicago area since July 30. Our furniture arrived two weeks ago and we are still unpacking boxes. Let me tell you air mattresses are not fun to sleep on for more than a couple of nights! I don't know how hubby did it for two months. I am still waiting to unpack all my scrapping stuff. Hopefully I can start on it later this week. It will be so nice to have a room all of my own.

By the way...my act cards are almost finished and will be in the mail this week, I promise.

We found a wonderful new (to us) store - Hobby Lobby. Melissa and I couldn't believe the paper selection they have and tons of embellishments too. With that and a huge JoAnn's nearby, we are set for scrapping supplies, although it would be nice to have a lss too.

Well I am off to catch up on all the posts I have missed.

Welcome back! I am glad that you are getting settled. I do miss my visits to the Hobby Lobby! I am sure that you will find an LSS near you sometime soon, there has to be one, right? Plus are you not near where they hold the summer CHA now?

I am really looking forward to getting all those ATCs in my mailbox!

Good to hear you are getting settled in. I understand the air bed problem. I haven't slept in a real bed in over a year! You will have to let me know how you enjoy Chicago...we are thinking of moving there as soon as I finish my degree.

Cathy....great to see you posting :o) Glad you are getting things sorted out following your move to Chicago. Albeit a little slower than you would like. Just keep the thought of your own scrapping space to play in and that will help get you through all the mundane stuff....like unpacking boxes full of household stuff. You will soon have everything sorted as you like it. Take care, Marilyn

Good to see you back. Hobby Lobby is one of my favorite stores, not just for scrapbooking, but for general crafts, sewing and decorating. Love their seasonal clearance. Sandy

Hi Cathy, great to see you back! You sure are going to love Chicago winters! Hobby Lobby is great. Ours, just built a new bigger one.

Glad to hear you're getting settled in. Can't wait to see your atcs. HL is the best craft store ever, that I've been to anyway. As Sandy said, their clearance is great. Enjoy it, but pace yourself. You don't need everything at once. 8-}~

There is one about 5 miles away, and they have a pretty good selection. They have a lot of stamping supplies. There are also a couple in downtown Chicago but that is a 1/2 hour train ride or 45 minutes or more by car. My daughter wants to open a scrapbook store, but I don't know where she thinks the $$$ will come from to do it!

Yes CHA was here in July. There will be a CKU here in the spring too.

You have my sympathy with the bed situation. Chicago is a beautiful city and there is lots to do. We lived in this area about 10 years ago, so it is somewhat familiar to us. And it is nice to see the rain, although lately we have had quite a bit of it!

Oh I hope so Marilyn. I'm getting down to the last few boxes and am in the "what will I do with this stuff" stage.

Thanks Sandy, it's good to be back. We just did the crafts part of the store. Will have to check the rest out next time.

Thanks Shannon. Hubby and I were downtown last weekend and we were remembering when we lived here before standing at an "L" station during the winter with wind chills of 50 below. Not something I'm looking forward too.

Well since I'm not working, my scrapping budget is severely limited. I'm sure I can find a way to get a few things now and then :-)

I can do better than that. I still have three boxes in the basement storage room that I have not opened yet since we moved 10 years ago. The sides say basement so that's where DH put them. I ran across them a few years ago but didn't have time and it seems that whenever I think of them I have no time either. I figure if I have not needed whatever is in them in all these years they can just sit. One of these days.........

Well, to be honest, I am painting the house by hand (20 foot walls and all!) PLUS all the cleaning and some of the landscaping/gardening/yardwork AND taking care of Maya and volunteering at her school a lot when I'm not subbing--not enough hours in the day. :-)

Kind of fun to come across a box I haven't seen in awhile and 'rediscover' my stuff, though! :-)

Whatever you do, though, do NOT send those "Clean Sweep" people to my house! Neecie scares me, LOL! :-)
