dragon update

Hey All,

Here's what I'm doing:

am hoping to have the rest of the stitching done today. We'll see howthat works out. lol I took some pictures as I went along. I will addmore as I go. I used a red panne velvet for the main body of the dragon. A white smooth poly satin for the belly. A gold crinkle poly satin for thefins, etc. I will be satin stitching some of the details like the teethand the claws. He has this wild "mustache" thing that I will satin stitchalso. I have some black glass beads for the center of his eyes. So far,I'm really pleased with it. I used a light weight black twill with just alittle bit of stretch to it for the backing. I don't like to put thingslike this directly onto sweatshirts. Even with stabilizers (and I am usinga heavy tear away on the back, and may add some water soluable on the topif I need to) the stitching tends to "sink" into the sweatshirt. It canalso warp easily. So to avoid that I'm putting him on the twill. Then Iwill cut down the twill and finish the edges. I'll put the whole thing onthe sweatshirt like a large patch. That way too if the dragon outlivesthis hoodie, he can be transplanted someplace else. ;) Still haven'tdecided about decorating the hoodie itself on top of this. I am leaningtowards making some binding out of the panne and putting that around theedge of the hood and maybe the pockets. We'll see. Right now I'm justtrying to get the dragon done!! lol Thanks for all your help getting him planned.
