I am doing a dressmaking course

I got an interesting email today. It had a picture in it, which I can't post here, and can't find on the web. But it's of an elderly woman at a fair or some such outdoor gathering with booths, and she is wearing

*very* short shorts with cut-outs!! The text reads as follows:

quite confused about how we should present ourselves. We are unsure about the kind of image we are projecting and whether or not we are correct as we try to conform to current fashions. Despite what you may have seen on the streets, the following combinations DO NOT go together And should be avoided:

Send a few out here to the depths of rural Oz. We could do with the diversity.

Nah! Give me a man in a nice frock any day of the week. Kilt wearers usually don't have as a good a level of grooming as the blokes in a posh frock.

And you haven't seen the picture!!! *That* is the stuff of nightmares, believe me!

Why do you ask? *twisting imaginary mustache* It is just the joy of being, of course. Yes, that's it.

Too funny!!

Beverly-----don't read any further, I don't want to be responsible for damaging your psyche any more.

Couldn't be worse than one my cousin emailed me a while back. Jokingly a warning about the dangers of going out in the sun w/o sunscreen..... Picture of a woman, she looked about 90 both in years and pounds....leathery skin tanned to about the color of walnuts...bleached blonde hair in a pony tail that hung to mid-back...wearing a thong bikini. And yes, there were two pictures of her walking down the beach. One from the front, one from the back. Bless her heart....that outfit really was missing one thing---a burka!!!

Joanne, Would you send it to me at my address? It's on my old computer, but I'd like to forward it to some friends and DDs. Emily

A walker sounds like a very good accessory for skates!

I wonder whether they make walkers with skis instead of wheels, for ice skating. Or for using the sidewalks in January.

Eighteenth-Century banyans!

(Can we keep the Civil Service from finding out that banyans were slopping-around clothes?)

I have found that i like sewing and using sewing machines , and have realised that its a very good idea to make my own clothes because there is a large variety of different types of fabric and I can choose whatever I want , see I have been uncomfortable in clothes for years , I think I might have allergic reactions to some types of materials I can not stand wool and polyester touching my skin , its actually physically painful for me to wear certain types of fabrics , I have had this problem all my life and now at last I have found a solution .

Just yesterday I had a man come to measure to give me a bid to put railings on my front porch stairs. It never used to be a problem, but now I want something to hold onto going up and down - especially when there might be ice.

well, unfortunately my experience has been mostly the opposite... i mean really, if you're going to get all gussied up in a pretty dress with stockings & heels, you should shave. if not your legs, at least your face. lipstick & bushy beards don't go together. i know several transvestites & female impersonators (one of whom i realized that i could never possibly be as drop dead gorgeous as he was. my comfort is that i'm pretty sure he didn't age well), but only a few can really pull off the posh frock. however, a guy in a kilt is pretty nice. i guess i just prefer the more practical... ;) lee
