satin material help please

Nov 04, 2007 1 Replies

Just as I am on the home stretch of making a wedding dress of Crepe Back Satin, now I notice a couple of areas where there are circles (about 1-1/2 inches size) where the sheen has dulled.

I thought I was being very careful handling the whole thing, I am so disappointed. One of these "spots" is in an area where I cannot hide it with anything.

Hope someone can help me. The material is supposed to be washable, so do I wash the whole thing before I put the lace on, or will it look tie-dyed? :-(

Thank you Katherine

My suggestion:

Take some of your off cut material, cut a square or rectangle, zig-zag or otherwise neaten the edges. Then measure the size of the piece (and make a note of it!) and wash and dry that piece as you are considering washing the garment. Afterwards see what effect laundering has had on both the finish and size of the fabric. Then and only then decide on what you will do with the dress.
