Rayon satin?

I was wandering through the local store today looking for dressy fabrics that would breathe well for dressy warm-weather pants. There were nearly two dozen bolts of nice polyester crepe-back satin with a really incredible sheen, linens and silks in colors that were wrong for me, and, as usual, no rayon whatsoever (the two stores closest to me stock almost no rayon, and when they do they mostly have prints that don't suit me).

It made me think; you can get satin made from silk or polyester, you can get sateen in cotton and blends, but I have never seen a rayon dress satin (as opposed to a lining satin). It seems like a good fiber for the purpose, since I seem to recall that rayon was suppoed to replace silk when it was new on the market- so am I blind? Or shopping in the wrong places? Or is rayon too delicate for satin somehow?

Any insights?

I have never seen a rayon dress satin

I did buy rayon satin once. It was vintage. But I still think it was for a coat lining. It was a bitch to work with - slipped about all over the place

- but had a lovely, deep sheen. I also have some 1940s dresses which are rayon satin, not poly. But rayon does tend to pill, so I wonder if that doesn't hold up well in a satin weave, so they just replaced it with poly?
