thank you note

To HC Thank you for your advice regarding embroidery machines. I did purchase a Janome 300E and I am waiting for it to arrive by courier. I will also be getting free lessons and they threw in 14 spools of embroidery thread. I do have an excellent sewing machine and serger so it was the machine I was interested in. I can hardly wait to start using it.

Thanks again Ruth

G'day Ruth

That's great........congratulations on your new machine, I don't think you'll be sorry for one minute. Embroidery is extremely addictive!!

There is a group for 300E owners that you might want to join.

you are waiting for your machine to arrive, why not download a trial version of Embird, it's good for 100 uses or 30 days and it will allow you to convert the format of free designs you can also download from the net. The 300E uses .jef format, select that if you can, but if not, select .pes and convert via Embird. Do a google search for 'free machine embroidery designs' and you'll be swamped. There are some freebies on the Janome site too and also on other machine manufacturers sites, eg Brother, Singer etc.

Also go to this site and download 'Categories for Embroidery.exe' it's a set of folders to organise your designs and good to start with these from the beginning....it's a huge job to do it later. You'll need to join the group to get this download. Once installed you can rename/add/delete folders to suit yourself, I've used these for several years.

That will get you started while waiting for your machine....check your local area for thread/stabilisers/etc but I buy most of mine on eBay so check there too.

Hope this helps? Bronwyn ;-)
