Viking even feed foot

My DH bought me an even feed/walking foot for my little Viking Sarah, as a Christmas present. I know how the foot works but, there are 2 bars that come with it. One fits on the right side of the foot and one on the left. I have no clue as to how they are used and the directions that come with the foot do tell me what their purpose is. Can someone help me. I'm not sure this will help, but half way down this page:

is a description of a Viking Dual Feed/Walking Foot, and the description says: " Quilters sew bulky layers of fabric and batting smoothly and easily. Helps keep plaids and stripes even. Comes with guide (different than picture) for precise top stitching which adjusts left or right. On some models it may be necessary to slightly adjust the needle position to the opening in the foot."

Those are 'quilting bars'. Ones for the left and one for the right of the foot... You use them to determine parallel lines of stitching, and they are very useful. In addition to the owner's manual, I suggest you try to get the latest attachment guide: this lists all the different feet for the different models and shows how they are used. Mine is so well used it's falling apart, and as my machine is now 9 years old, I can no longer replace the guide! :(

Thanks for the information. It's so simple once it's explained and makes sense. Beverly thanks also for the web page. The prices are a lot better than the dealer I use for accessories. I don't need many but every once in awhile I decide I would like to have a special foot for something. Juno

You're welcome. That site came up when I searched on "Viking even feed foot":

might find other useful sites there. Beverly

Thanks Beverly, I put that little baby on and have it up and running. I've accomplished more today quilting a city bag cover than I was able to do in several weeks of trying to keep everything lined up. I works well with and without the little guide bars. Juno
