I use mine a great deal! I use it for quilting curves as well as straight lines; and, when I want to do something special, I will use it for quilting anything, and turn the quilt to turn corners etc. I also use it for sewing the binding on, and various other tasks (like making curtains the other day), when I want to be sure there isn't the annoying bit of drag that makes top layer come longer than the bottom layer! I find it extremely useful. . In message , Kate T. writes
With my Pfaffs -- it is built in and I use it almost all the time -- for most all piecing.
Lucky me ... I do not need a separate walking foot! My Pfilomina Pfaff has Integrated Dual Feed. I use it for almost every thing. It is especially useful for piecing and for attaching binding. I do not use it for back and forth fancy stitching as those need to go well back and forth! Pat in VA/USA
I didn't know you were a fellow Pfaff'er. Which model is Pfilomina? I love mine. Started with a 2030 which has sewn wonderfully for over a decade. Then bought a 7570 via eBay -- and love it too (although I've not mastered embroidery yet -- which is why I bought it!)

On my Lily I've used it occassionally for one of the built in stitches--it's just a gentle slightly wavy line. Haven't had a chance to try it at all on the Designer 1 yet.

I am doing a triple Irish Chain and want to do some stencil work in the plain block. I don't want to put it on my MQF and thought I could use the walking foot. Nothing fancy just some curves.
WellI guess its time to get a practice sandwich together and try it. I thought someone out there might have tried before.

Sure you can do curves with a walking foot.
When I was young and stupid I did a clamshell border with one. Looks lovely but what a Pain to do!
It does much better with gentle curves like a cable.
While you can do a single block motif (heck, Mary Mashuta wrote a book on that -

Kate: Pfilomina is also a 7570. I bought her new over ten years ago, but bought it without the embroidery unit. I had a 1221SE before this. I like Pfaff. Pat in Virginia
Named mine Phoebe. She's a Quilt Expression 2046. Just a few embroidery stitches. Nuff to keep me happy.
