OT: 3 weeks....(my MOM, and the saga, shortened)

My cousin, Lorraine had to go out of town for approx. a month, so sis and I were asked to come be with Mom in IL. Don and I arrived mon Feb 25th, and planned to stay 9 nights. Sis arrived that sat., (03/01?) and planned to stay as long as it took. Don HAD to go back to TN for two appt's at the VA, and left wed (fifth?)... two hours out of Rockford, the transmission blew on the truck. He MADE his appt on Friday. He suggested I STAY, so I did. Mom died that Friday, march 7th. Nancy left saturday following. I stayed and started the process of emptying Mom's apt. Nancy arrived back on the following thursday, as did Don. Nancy left Sunday, Don and I finished up and left yesterday, Monday the 17th. It was a LONG three weeks. Mom died at home. Will post more when I recup a bit. Noreen

thank you. i don't think i mentioned it before. my family is a bit, um, odd about death... for example, i didn't know my uncle had died until over a year later because no one thought to tell me. at any rate, it was not expected. she went into the hospital in December with hip pain. it took them 2 weeks to decide she had hairline cracks in her hip. then she was in an extended care facility for PT. while there she developed cellulitis, so was sent back to the hospital... where she died, apparently from someone trying to put in a feeding tube & botching it horribly. lee

Glad to hear you are back safe.

Sorry I missed you, I should not have sat down in the recliner with a magazine. Gail was in the other room listenging to a book on tape and did not notice the time. She can not hold regular books now with the ALS advancing.

I did go to the Yarn Sellar that day. I was in and out fast, I Just wanted a size 7 16" DP. Picked it up and left. Did not see Don so I did not talk.

Please do tell Don I am sorry. I never get a good night's sleep. It is easy to fall asleep in the recliner with a Magazine in hand. I really wanted to talk to Navy!!!!!

We will meet again.

Spike Driver. . . Dennis, I do not hold on to such negativities as anger. However you must realize that due to what happened, Don and I stood out in the bitter cold for an hour and a half, waiting for you, AND due to our being in absentia, I missed saying goodbye to my sister, who left LovesPark while we were waitng for you. I am sorry about the the long time waiting and your sister. Gail went into another room and was lisening to her books on tape and I was reading. It was easy to fall asleep with my sleeping habits, if you can call them sleeping habits. I was having a bad couple of days and was not getting more that 2 hours of sleep in bed.

I hope we get a chance to meet agian and tell Don I am very sorry. Gail felt worse than me, she loves the tapes since she can not hold a book any more.
