*** A Beader Needs Us ***

Charley Hughes AKA BeadyBoop

has been designing wonderful patterns for the beading community to use for many, many years. She has also been supportive of various causes within the community. When other beaders needed a hand, she would do what she could for them, donate patterns, beads, time & energy and she would pray for them.

Now she needs the rest of the beading community to offer prayers, support, positive energy, whatever you have her direction. Her husband suffered a massive stroke and heart attack a few days back.

Charley and the rest of her family are devastated. Scared, confused, worried and in need of whatever we can offer them to help their spirits and to help her cherished husband to hang on and begin his recovery process.

Please take a few moments when you read this to offer up whatever form of prayer or positive thought you believe in for this family and long time supporter of the beading community. They live in Eureka, California.

At this time, Charley is at the hospital with her husband almost continuously. While they will be in need of our financial help, and we can do this by purchasing her patterns and books, at this time the orders will not be filled, and she will not be available for any customer support if you should need any, from her website.

A group of her online friends are considering ways we can help her by shipping her products for her, and when that issue has been resolved, I will be returning to also ask you for your monetary support for this family.

I believe in the strong power of healing thoughts, and I have witnessed the beading community create miracles when needed. We are all needed now.

Hi Patti,

Thanks for your reply. I am copying them all to send to Charley so she can see how the community is here for her.

And thanks as well for the reminder about CERF.

Volunteers are now needed....here is a letter explaining:

i just spoke with charley this morning. she asked that i post to everyone.

wayne is still on oxygen, with no gag reflex. the hospital wants to send him home, and no rest home will take him for rehab as they say he is unresponsive to commands. however, charley says wayne will respond to her and her granddaughter's requests to move his toes, etc. so she's encouraged about that. she is thinking of bringing wayne home. she asked if anyone who has had experience with home care of a stroke victim could send her some advice - or tell her a good book to read about home care and rehab. charley's email is beadyboop @ cox.net (remove spaces). wayne has recognized some people's voices when they visit at the hospital.

he has been dealing with a lung infection as he pulled the feeding tube from his nose and aspirated some of the material. they are going to insert a feeding tube in his stomach. charley says the lung infection appears to be getting better.

if anyone would like to take some of charley's books and sell them - she is willing to ship them to you and just get paid as you sell them - larry at helby's was unwilling to buy the books from her at $2/book. don't get me started about him!

money is going to be very, very tight for them. at this point in time, insurance may not cover a rest home anyway, and they don't qualify for medicare/med-cal. charley would not object to any auctions or fund raising we may want to do - but feels awkward about it - as anyone would who is as much of a giver as charley is. but i know the funds raised are really needed now. i would be willing to work with anyone on setting up an auction - but can't do it all by myself due to work and my parents. charley and i are also trying to work out a way where i could send out the patterns sold from her website for her. so if people want to go to the website and buy patterns - you will get them one way or another!

i know everyone's prayers are with charley, wayne, and the family - keep it up as charley can feel the strength of our prayers surrounding her.

if anyone has any other ideas - or would like to help set up an auction - please contact me off-list.

thanks again everyone! also, please feel free to cross-post this to any other lists or forums! the more people we have praying and helping - the better.
