Question, though. I know that 99.999% of the people posting here either make beads or beaded jewelry. Advertising jewelry and other goodies to folks who can (and do) make even nicer stuff seems like preaching to the choir.

Does anybody have any suggestions of other places where I can put shameless plugs? :o)

I think it's fine to post ads here for finished work, as long as you have the AD in the subject and know you're...preaching to the choir. :) I've sold jewelry and beads to my peers from this group and others before. That being said - for finished jewelry and such, I found that listing my site on top web site lists and putting a link to my stuff in my signature on all forums helped a lot. Also, find a newsgroup that talks about fashion and clothing and such, lurk there and then make friends. Keep your link to your stuff in the sig line, and then eventually, if they allow it, post an ad or two. :) Have business cards made up and then pass them out to people who comment on your jewelry when you're wearing it. I sold tons of stuff to my mom's bunco group (a group of fashion conscious women who play dice games together every month!!) when one of them discovered I made my own jewelry. Word of mouth is the best advertising you could have. Anyway - ignore me if you already knew that. :)

Statistic: Of the four items that I first auctioned, 3 of them went to RCB'ers. :-)

Got a link in my sig. Which website lists?

I don't know many fashion conscious folks -- execpt you people, of course. However, since I'm a witchy lady and make some Pagan-oriented designs, and there *is* a an NG for Pagan announcements and ads.... Hmmm....

Got the business cards, although I may have to do a non-eBay version. Now, I just have to get out more!

Why should I ignore you? Thanks for the tips!

BTW, I trot my stuff down to my local LBS just to show them off. Not

*exactly* a case of preaching to the choir -- Jen says she'd love to take my stuff on consignment, if she had the room. (It's The Big Little Bead Shop, but the way it's going, it's going to be The *Exploding* Little Bead Shop. One has to avoid taking a deep breaths while shopping, otherwise it could lead to disaster. :-D )

What I mean are top 50 web sites and the like, that cater to crafters, jewelrs, beadmakers, etc. For instance -

And the list goes on. There's also a great service out there that I used to get my site known quickly back when I sold jewelry. They charge you, but for me, it was worth it. They run one of the top lists above. They are at

It's been a couple years since I have used them, so they may have changed a bit, but they do a lot for your money.

Love that newsgroup. I rarely have time to read it anymore, but when I have a hankering for beauty supply shopping, that's the first place I look. Lots of recommendations and opinions on clothes, makeup and bath & body stuff in general. It's also a greta place to find out what's hot in fashion when it comes to color and design. It's great research for bead and jewelry making. Plus, most of the people are really cool. It's one hell of a popular group though. They get probably at least twice or three times the messages we get. So it's hard to keep up. :)
