I have a couple of new auctions up. I was playing around with my tiny lentil tool as well.

Starlia you are killing me!!! I love them all and wish... oh how I wish... I had the money! They are beautiful and the doll is awesome!

Thank you Harry. I really like this doll a lot. She was more a labor of love and that's why I like her so much more.
I had the money!
The fish is so cute.
ROFLMAO!!! Like crack!!! Kalera - do you want my lentil mashers? They are a little off center, but if you need the 1" version, you can have mine for free.
Same here. I am lenticularly challenged, and have no desire to perfect the shape. :)
I certainly do like lentil shaped beads, but it's inspite of the shape, not because of it.

I started with the big tool, and just got a teeny one recently. What about it bugs you? It's the Tapcraft one, right? Maybe I can help you troubleshoot.

I'm very touch-oriented, and I find the shape quite sensual. I also like the way certain patterns are accentuated on a lenticular bead, and the way they look like candy when in bright colors, and the way the small transparent ones look like gemstone, and the way they -click- together, and the way they lay on your arm as a bracelet... I can understand why people don't like them, too, because there are some shapes I'm not crazy about.

Would I ever!!!

I'm probably putting too much glass on the mandrel, but it just doesn't seem like enough. I've already had one crack in half on me. That's not a bad thing since I'll take it to Melissa's for her bead memorial.
With the bigger tool, the tool really doesn't open enough to get the mass of glass in, which is a definite design flaw! I get around that by flattening it slightly onthe marver, flashing it back into the flame, and then squishing it with the lentil tool. What you're going for, size-wise, is enough to fill the cups completely without squishing out the sides to form the dreaded "ridge". However, better too much than not enough; you can always fire polish the ridge away.

Yeah, I worked with the tool when we got home tonight. The mass wouldn't fit into the lens so I did as you said and marvered before pressing. I can see it working well for my hollows since they are huge. I kinda like that.
I also got more Val frits and silver foil in the mail today. I'm off to play some more.
Cool! I love silver... OH, how I love it! And frits are agonizingly addictive. I am completely dependent on Val's frit; I am almost ashamed of how much I've spent on it! I live in terror that she will stop. I have bought half-kilos directly from the supplier in my favorite colors, but half-kilos... that's a LOT of frit. I like to just be able to buy little bits in a lot of different colors.
Speaking of frit, I just bought a whole bunch of Bullseye frits in some of my most favoritest colors, but you have to buy a pound at a time, so I'm going to be divvying it up into smaller bags and selling it on my website. I'm so excited! I got aventurine green and royal purple and steel blue and a new delicious color I've never used before, striking pink. Mmmmmm! And some sheet glass in luscious colors.
I AM A GLASS JUNKIE STOP ME. If you only knew how much glass is in my garage...

Please let us know when you put some in baggies. I'll be first to hand over money for a baggie of frit.
You can't even guess how much Val frit I have. It's like every time I see her name or the word frit I'm off to her site....see just did it thinking about her. Crap, I missed out on a bunch of bundles...but I think I have all those colors. It's addicting! Arggg! It's subliminal advertising...Val = Frit.
That's the frit that a lot of the people onWC posted sample work with isn't it. I loved seeing ways to work with it. Like blending a darker tone into a bead of lighter color.

I love my frits. I usually pull it into stringer by itself or cover white with it and pull stringer. I did some last night where I put white over black and then tutti frutti. It turned out pretty, but the bead is not impressive.
I also made some very pretty roses on a bead from tutti frutti wrapped around white. The possibilities are endless.
And I'm serious about the subliminal thing. Every time I see Val in a post, read the word frit, etc. I go to her website to check on her latest specials. It's crazy.
vj found this in rec.crafts.beads, from "starlia" :
]I love my frits.
**snicker** Nicole, have you told them how YOU feel about frit?----------- @vicki [SnuggleWench] (Books)
