I've added a number of luscious new pearls to the store after finding my favorite pearl vendor at a trade show last weekend. The Spring Sale is ongoing, with special prices on flowers and leaves as well as the hot colors for spring and summer. They're all marked as "Special!!" in the item title. Prices are at least 20% off. Also, special pricing remains on all TierraCast and Thai Hilltribe silver. And I've reduced the price on my remaining stock of watch heads to clear some inventory before the next batch comes in. All of my A grade cat's eye beads remain discounted 20% too.
There's some not so good news about future Czech bead prices. For the past 18 months, Czech bead costs have risen slowly as the US dollar declined in value relative to foreign currencies, particularly the Euro. I was informed last week by my primary importer that because the Czech Republic will officially become part of the European Union on May 1st, he will have to start paying import duty on everything coming in after that date. He's hoping to keep any price increases to a minimum, but he wasn't certain how successful he'll be with that.
I've tried to minimize the price increases I've experienced in the past year too, but if my costs increase, I'm afraid I'll have to raise prices a little. One thing I won't do is just raise prices across the board on May 1st. My prices will increase only if replacement shipments cost me more than what I paid before. I've tried very hard to keep prices as low as I can and intend to keep doing so in the future.
