AD - Plum Shimmer - lampwork set with glass toggle!

Ya know, I was curious...the toggle bar - does it have a loop on it and how do you make that part of it??

The bar has a hole through the middle of it. I made a small bead, then built the bar on each side by stacking dots, then shaped with mashers. You can see it best in this pic - the wire is strung through the middle of the bar, with a crystal on the other side:

The round part has a loop - now that I look at the pics you can't really see it very well! In the pics above, the loop section is shown with a 6mm Swar. bicone coming out of it. To make a loop, I place dots about 4mm apart and keep stacking them until they eventually meet. Then I use a 3/32" mandrel to shape the inside of it so it's an actual hole. Does this make any sense?

Yes, it does, and do you ever make them for sale alone?...they would be SO awesome as a focal in and of themselves!

Makes sense - I was just thinking, how could you could you lay down a blob of molten glass on a standard mandrel and keep it steady whilst you added a loop.

A'course - I wonder if you get get a flat 'mandrel' ( kind of like a marver, but not as wide) and use that to build the bar part, with a toggle, then anneal it on the flat 'mandrel'. Does THAT make any sense? Would it work?

LOL you guys. :) I know I haven't made many beads lately, but I have had the flu and can't breathe very well, so unfortunately, not much torching for this gal until my lungs clear up. :)

I got this one from Little Crow - here's a link to her auctions. She has a bunch of different manrels for sale:
