bead resume

Hi all, This is a strange topic but definitely beady -- I'm going to apply for some holiday hours at the local bead store. They don't have applications, instead they asked me to submit a resume.

Now, I have a professional curriculum vitae, but this would not interest them. So -- any thoughts on what to include in my bead resume? I think experience (in years), shows, etc. would be good. Any other ideas would be very much appreciated!

Jennifer, Good luck!! In addition to the ideas you have mentioned, you might include which stitches (peyote, brick, etc.) you know, if you've ever taught beading (which stitches or which age groups you prefer), if you specailize in seed beads or larger beads, if you are knowledgeable about gemstones, if you feel comfortable demonstrating wire work or other techniques. Also which classes you have taken or if you are self-taught.Mention which teachers or books have been helpful to you. Do you make your own beads (lampwork, fused, polymer, etc.) If the shop does parties, mention if you like teaching kids or adults in that arena. Some bead stores here are combining other disciplines such as knitting, weaving, etc. - you might mention if you have any experience in those areas. Do you sew? Can you follow or even create a pattern? Good luck and land that job!!! Patti

List classes you've taken/studies with teachers

list any teaching you've ever done, list any particular skills/areas of knowledge (beadweaving, jewelry finishing, wire wrapping, whatever....)

list any you COULD teach

any writing about beads/jewelry you've done,

any sales you've done, retail or at shows, and print out some pics--a portfolio is as important as a resume in artistic endeavors, perhaps more so. Sarajane
