I'd use a small crimp and a reasonably large holed bead to hide it. BTW, watch crystal cement (with that horid teeny tip on the tube) is perfect for holding a bead over a crimp so it doesn't slip, and therefore, you don't see the crimp.

As far as a stringing material, for normal stringing (not beadweaving), I'd use either softflex or softtouch. I still have a little Acculon left from my original jewelrymaking days (bought a

1,000 foot spool and thought $50 was a lot of money - hahahaha), but I only use that for beads with the roughest and toughest of holes.

vj found this in rec.crafts.beads, from Margie :

i'd follow her directions, but use Fireline instead. it won't stretch.

I saved 2 pics of some strung vessels awhile back when I was cruzing the web because they were so unusual. But I had no luck in trying to find the original website ... :( Sorry - but every now and then I save pics from all over the web as my personal screen saver - then when I get tired of the pics, I delete 'em all and go surfing for more. :) But I can send you the pics if you'd like to see them- there are 2 jpg's totaling around 115 kb's.

I'll try to explain them tho... They used a total of 6 strands of wire (use SoftFlex - please don't use Beadalon/Accuflex - can you say kinks?). A set of 6 wires went around each side of the neck of the vessel. So you work with 3 strands of wire at a time for each side. The 3 strands on one side of the vessel were then strung into one bead right next to the neck of the vessel, then a crimp bead was used to keep the wire tight around the neck of the vessel. I like Kathy N-V's idea about using a larger bead to hide the crimp... in that case, crimp first, then add the larger bead

String 1 bead onto each individual length of wire. Then a single silver bead was strung, placing all 3 wires into it - using that small silver bead as a separator. Then repeat by stringing 1 smaller bead onto each individual length of wire, again placing a single silver bead onto all 3 lengths of wire until you get to the desired length of the necklace.

Be sure _not_ to pull the 3 beads tight against each other before placing the silver bead onto the wire. The beads are supposed to look like they're "floating" and they make way for each other. It's a lot like the look of a floating illusion necklace, yet more substantial looking because so many beads are used on all 6 strands of wire on each side of the vessel.

And rather than place the wire around the neck of the vessel like in the pic I have, I'm sure you could accomplish the same thing by attaching wire around the handles of your gorgeous vessel. I love them, btw... very well done! :)

Yes! That's what I was trying to figure out about it myself. I think the braiding is great. Maybe the strings of seeds could just go through the handles on the vessel, without the wire? Or maybe an antique-y kind of copper wire?

Could you use sz. 15 seeds in matching or complimentary colors, just for the part that goes through?

Thanks Margie,

I'm going to print this out to save for my stringing help.

I like them both. And the colors of the delicas are gorgous.

How do you do the braid? I've tried many times to braid strands but they just fall out.

Couldn't you put all three strands (of thread) through a single line of beads at that point?

Oh, Margie, I have to find time to get up to your house and get spiral lessons!

I am not sure if spiral is what I think it is, but if it is it is something I have really wanted to learn.

You are welcome here anytime, Marisa! If the spiral isn't what you thinking it is, I'm sure we could find another stitch/weave to learn. :=)

I could if I use Nymo, which I now know what is. I was using accuflex.

I was doing a fishtail braid. Bring the outer two to the middle and cross them. Your inner two become the outer two and you just repeat.........................

If that is anything like softflex I still think you could. I do all the time.
