New Wire Earrings

Jan 16, 2007 5 Replies

This looked like something fun to try out of the Making Wire Jewelry book. I tried them in copper first. I'd like to try the necklace, which would take 11 of these components and I'm sure I don't have enough wire. I love these earrings though!!

First I followed the directions in the book, and the component was HUGE, so I downsized a little with smaller dowels and a smaller gauge wire, and I'm much happier.

Thanks, Susan. I do too! I want to make them in silver or gold, but I like the way the copper goes with my brunette hair!

Oh, no! I'm going to have to look when I go in there! I've got a little bunch of copper washers, just because they were pretty and I *might* get an idea of what to do with them!

I started with the 1/4 ID tubing, but i think I'm going one size up and se what the 1/2" ID would look like as a torq-ish neck piece. It's really interesting to work with - very soft to start, but work hardens

+++ so the finished pieces are very sturdy. Hmmm, copper washers - will have to look for those!!
