OMG! As you know my little rural community is so pitiful it doesn't even know what Coco-Bats are, BUT.....I was north of Baltimore yesterday and found Cadbury Creme Eggs in.......ORANGE!!!!!!!! OMG! Beyond delicious!!! [I've always loved the "original" creme egg, then the caramel variety, but now this!]
Needless to say, I bought "a few" because I know my area won't have them -- for years, if ever!!!
You know......I think it was our own Sooz who started the "____FNR" thing. First it was BFNR (Beads For No Reason), when someone sent someone else (often annonymously) beads as a pick-me-up, etc. Then, in the spring, there were often "PFNR" -- PEEPS For No Reason - again, sending some as a Random Act of Kindness (RAK). We've had a lot of those "___FNR" thingies flying all over the world from one RCB-er to another for quite a few years! It's always fun to hear about them, and now that there are sugar-free peeps, well, it was bound to happen!!! :-) [RCB-ers are the best!]
These things for no reason started many years ago. It was at a time when there used to be over 1000 messages at any one time on RCB. I got the very first BFNR Beads for no reason and have more since. We say for no reason but each time I have had one is when I was really ill. Sooz organised the first one and I doubt if you could imagine my surprise when it arrived here. I had heart problems and had a bypass but things went wrong again. So wrong my GP thought I would not make it. The people in this group chivvied me through it and then came the BFNR. My Dh put the parcel down in front of me and I thought I had not ordered anything from USA. DH said I hope you have got enough money to pay for it. Imagine my surprise when I opened many beautiful wrapped gifts of beads. All topped of with a card stating from their hearts to mine. I shed more than a few tears to think that people I have never met cared so much about me.
At various times we have got together to send others BFNR maybe as a group or as a one off when one wanted to surprise someone.
I did many swaps and include a special condiment spoon that I had got from antique fairs. We called it Shirley's Spoon Club.
A good many of those people are missing from the group now. I wished they would drop in again. I miss them very much. Shirley
I am pleased to hear it is still useful . I also use mine when beading, so good for sorting beads as well as shovelling them up to put back in bags and pots.
I have not been to may fairs lately, some of them have stopped because the venues have been pulled down. The last one I went I did get some gorgeous vintage buttons. One lot is large black and silver with a flower centre, maybe I could put a bezel round them. The others are domes set with AB stones could be "s". Very pretty anyway. Shirley
