OT: Rugged, but beady, weekend

Saturday, I was so proud of myself for having made it shopping at Target without passing out in the aisles. I felt physically terrible afterward, but I was stoked that maybe I was making a little progress. Apparently, I had made a lot less progress than I thought.

I was up the entire night Saturday, in intense pain and unable to breathe. (two separate causes) I finally made it to bed at about noon on Sunday, and have been mostly asleep ever since. Sophie is enjoying having Mama sleep (so she can nap on her pillow in my room), but I could feel a whole lot better.

OTOH, on Saturday night, I sat down with some beads and instructions, determined to conquer that wretched Dutch Spiral, which has eluded me for a long, long time. After ignoring the suggestions to use Size 11/0s and 15/0s, I managed to do just fine with 6/0s and 8/0s. I'm now experimening with mixing a bunch of bead sizes and types to see what I can get this stitch to do.

I still have the pearls to count out and get ready for mailing, but I'm going to wait until my head is clear. DD and DH are teasing me, because last night I got out of bed with a bunch of "good ideas for DD's school science fair project."

Unfortunately, I was asleep, and my ideas were pretty strange for a middle school science project (using human test subjects, for example). I bet she'd have gotten an "A" if she made my "walk through plant cell" with real cellulose cell walls, though. I sort of remember babbling about using some twin friends of DD's to demonstrate changes in reproductive DNA, which probably wouldn't fly, either - their parents might not be too excited about having their sons as a science project.

These ideas always make such good sense to me when I'm asleep. Pity they're so off the wall the rest of the time.

Yawn, I guess I'll go back to sleep again. It's safer for all concerned that way.

Kathy, please take care of yourself and rest as much as possible.

Now I am not going to take my own advice because I am going to a Knitting/Sewing show on Saturday. I know I shall be whacked before the day is done but there are to be bead stalls there. I shall feel like a limp rag on Sunday but I cannot let my complaints dictate all the time or I should never leave the house. I will have plenty of friends because I am going with my Monday night class. Shirley

LOL! i used to do that to Jamie & Johnny, too. and i'd wake up when they'd say something like, "MOM, you're asleep again!"

I think so. I can't get at AOL right now (only one person allowed on per account, and DH got there ahead of me), but I'll let you know if I'm missing anything.

Thanks Jerri,

I shall take my camera this time so I can get Vicki to put some pics up to show you what a UK show looks like.

I will be wearing my RCB T-shirt. Shirley

Feel better, and take it easy until you do...

Once you've recovered for real (and only then) I'll be eager to see how your dutch spirals came out.

What is fun about these stories is that sometimes people don't suspect until you say something -totally- off the wall...

yes, there is that. poor kids - really shook them up the first couple of times it happened! they'd get really nervous that something might happen to me, since i was the only parent they could trust.
