Beady Demographics

Does anyone know a good source for demographics related to the bead industry?

Not offhand, but I'd be willing to bet that the major industry magazines have done some sort of research in order to satisfy their advertisers' questions about demographics.

They may or may not be willing to sell some of their research results to you. It's worth checking out, anyway.

only what I see in bead stores and trade shows---its heavily weighted towards females. There are the beady babies 8-21 who just want the intro level stuff and seed beads on the safetypin sortof thing. Then there are the ones 35 and older (mostly 45+, really....) A very large amount are well educated/professional people. There are more men in glass and metal than in polymer clay, but its still predominant to the women--men tend more to be jewelers than beaders, statistically. Sarajane

Dawn is a sweety and knows her stuff. Bead and Button and Belle Armoire are two very good mags in which to advertise. Try and get a little write-up ready about your beads too, and get it into print around the same times.... Sarajane
