OT: Story -The Story of Sea Glass

young sailor named Franco. It is a love story, but, unlike most love stories, it does not have a happy ending. Unless you like sea glass. This is the story, or so it?s told, of how sea glass came to be.

Lorelei?s hand. Tiburon, the King of Fleynaar, organized games for the merman, and the victor would win Lorelei?s hand in marriage. He would also become a prince, which was a coveted title among mermen.

oysters to find pearls, and captured lobsters for a wedding feast. At the end of the games, young Arnal was declared the winner and a wedding date was set.

tropical island. She pulled herself up onto a small pile of sea-washed rocks and sighed. She missed her father and she missed her home, but she couldn?t go back and face marrying someone she did not love.

asked. A handsome face topped with curly dark brown hair peeked around one of the rocks. Deep brown eyes gazed upon Lorelei, and then the young man smiled. ?Good morning, goddess of the sea. My name is Franco and I am a sailor. May I be so bold as to ask what brings you to land??

beautiful as his. She knew instantly that this young man, land-dweller or no, was her one true love.

that he felt the same. They were fated to be together forever.

man came to sit beside her on the rocks and gently took her hand in his. His eyes told her that he could feel her heartache. He gently brushed the tears from her cheeks.

time his mother took him to the sea as a toddler and held him so that the waves could tickle his feet, he had loved the ocean. The waves were like a caress to him, the sound of the surf the sighs of a faithful lover. The ocean called to him, spoke his name is soft whispers that drew him ever back to her shore.

knew she had to go back to Fleynaar to say her goodbyes. Franco assured her that he would be waiting for her, faithful as the tides.

message in a bottle, telling you where we are going and when I shall return. No matter where we sail, my heart will be with you, and I will come back for you, my sea goddess, I swear it.?

the waves, swimming for home, already missing her one true love, and already longing to be with him.

anger at her running away. He hugged Lorelei to him and she hurriedly told him what had happened while she was gone.

But he saw the look in Lorelei?s eyes and knew he had lost her to Franco. He gave her a pearl necklace made of pearls he had gathered for her wedding gift. He hugged her again, holding her tight for a long, tender moment, then released her and told her she would always be welcome at Fleynaar, as would Franco.

lagoon, Lorelei called out to Franco, eager to hear his voice calling her name. She heard only the lonely cries of the gulls.

mingled with the salty ocean. She knew she had to return to Fleynaar and wait for Franco?s bottle to arrive.

that Lorelei found, she shattered against stones, hoping to find Franco?s message. She never did. The ocean washed the broken bottles, sending them ashore in bits and pieces, like the shards of Lorelei?s broken heart.
