With the recent discussion about netiquette here, I thought this might be in order (since I just plopped myself down in the middle of the group with questions ) -

Hi all,

I'm Carla. I participated in the group a little bit a couple of years ago, then "real life" got the better of me and online time suffered for it. Part of the real life stuff, though, was making/selling beaded jewelry, so I didn't mind too much :)

I live in Chicago, IL (U.S., in case this is an international group); married, childfree, petfree.

I've been bead-addicted for about five years, and although my favorite thing to make is earrings (instant gratification, I guess), my current passion is for beaded watches

I came to the group for information/inspiration, and hopefully to get feedback from those "in the know" :) Cheers, Carla

Hey, welcome! :-))

Love the watch! DH loves it too... He really likes personalised stuff.. Well done..

Mavis

Welcome, Carla! Lovely watch. :) Have fun!

Hi Carla,

I'm always glad when someone introduces themselves. Even people who've been here a while. I forget stuff. Especially when people use a screen name, a business name and a real name. I'm glad to see you back, and hope to see more of your work.

Nice watch. I just ordered a couple faces last week. And now I see Marjean, Halsey trading, has them for less.

My brother's exwife puts out a yoga magazine in Chicago. I'm in Alaska.

Hope we get to see more of your work soon.

Tina

Hi, Carla. Are you in the city proper? I'm about 5 minutes from my LBS, Bead in Hand.

I haven't learned how to walk and chew gum at the same time. Anyway, what I should have added is that I'm right outside the city.

I don't know if you're familiar with Caravan Beads on Lincoln Ave? I live very near there, which is how I got hooked. I kept passing the store on the way home from work and seeing a sign that read "Make Your Own Jewelry!" That was my downfall. I knew I was spending way too much time there when the clerks started greeting me by name :)

Thanks to all of you, btw, for the nice comments on the watch. It's a piece I'm particularly proud of.

Sooz, tonight I'm going to spend a coupla hours checking out the links you posted. And I'll remember the tip about parentheses :)

Cheers and thanks, Carla
