for pain as soon as the aura starts.
and if need be, I *can* work through it, but am not worth a darn!
Although I do get the headache portion of migraines, at least half the time I get the "aura" thingie without the following pain. The auras I see, are something like the "heat waves" that rise off hot rocks, blacktop, etc. Usually, they are accompanied by an "almost" nausea, that pulses-- and always accompanied by a pulsing nausea if they do progress to the headache. I think the nausea is the worst part of it all-- I hate being nauseated... I'd rather deal with pain. Even without the actual headache, it's hard to function-- I feel "fragile"-- like any second I WILL have the headache and/or nausea; noises and light bother me a LOT during these periods.
