Okay, I give up. What's with the snurl.com addy? It links to other sites so I don't understand why you wouldn't just post that addy? Admittedly it's short - is that something anyone can do or is it something special?

Its brevity is the point. With long URLs, such as eBay postings, they get wrapped and or truncated here in the group, rendering them useless for click and go.

Anyone can do it, and doing so makes it more likely that group readers will be able to use the links you post.

I never realized there was such a market for salt spoons in this day and age. :-)

And, as I read down the page, I spotted several entries for salt spoon pins. Seems I have one of those tucked away in my jewelry box. It belonged to me grandmother.

Why am I suddenly developing the urge to collect salt spoons?

Speak for yourself. I don't even know how to put up pictures with a link so that I can show things off (like, for instance, my son in his boot camp graduation picture....) Forget snurl stuff. My brother, who keeps up my web site, didn't know what a blog was! Hadn't heard the term until I brought it up! And he's only in his 40s. A mere babe in the woods! I had wanted him to add one to my site that I could update at will. That was 6 months ago. I'm still waiting...... Barbara Dream Master

What I did, and need to do again, is set up a blank page on my site. I named it LOOK, and I posted photos on it, and then just posted that people could look on that page (and gave link).

I can sympathize with your brother. I didn't know how to turn a computer on until 1992 - two days before my 37th birthday. I was starting a new job where I'd use a computer at least 95% of the time - yikes! There was a really nice, patient guy who sat beside me and taught me to have faith in myself and that I couldn't "break" the computer. Well, over the next few months he was convincing me - and I noticed that besides being very intelligent, he was rather attractive. Here we are in 2003, and we are "life partners". And I've passed him in some areas of computers. He gets frustrated on the web - I can find darned near anything. I also maintain one website for the Mid-Atlantic Region of the EGA and I am working on a site for a friend who owns a bead shop. But Blogs just totally baffle me! I guess I just don't know *why* anyone wants an online diary.

Oh well, I guess I need to get back to work - I have a newsletter that I reeeeeeeeeeeally need to get to the printer.

Blogs just totally baffle me! I guess

It's all in what you use it for. I want it as a place to post ramblings dealing with art, artistry, where I want to go with my work, bench tips, you name it. It creates an ever-changing (hopefully) area for the spiders to crawl, and gives people another reason to visit the site. All while not locking me into a schedule like a newsletter etc. would. As for my newsletter - I have to. It's for the EGA - it lets all of the chapters in our region know what's going on. I post a copy online in a password protected area as well. (Our home addresses and phone numbers are listed in the newsletter and we don't post that publicly.)

As for the schedule - I will admit I do better - much better - with a deadline. This issue is a real loose one so it's running late. The others precede a region meeting and I am required by the bylaws to have the information in the reps hands no less than 30 days prior to the meeting.

I used to have a private page on the web but I am so darned boring that no one cares about my ramblings. ?Ø
