Tuscon Gem & Mineral Show

I got a flyer in the mail about the Tucson Gem & Mineral show, and I'm thinking about going to it (assuming DH gets a job in the next month). BUT, the flyer reads like an ad for Thunderbird supply, and I was wondering if this is just their capitalizing on the show, or if the show is THEIRS, meaning, they run it, etc. Just wondering if this would be something worth my time, and a 6 hour drive...Anyone know?

EVERYBODY goes to Tucson. I don't know who runs it precisely, but it goes on for two weeks and takes up a couple of square miles, or so I'm told. I've never made it there myself, but one of these years...

Actually the Tucson "Show" this year is a collection of 34 different trade shows spread out over two+ weeks, from January 31 to February 14. The Tucson Gem & Mineral Show is just one of them and three of the others are BEAD shows! It's definitely worth a 6 hour drive, but if you don't already have hotel accommodations or know someone you can bunk with, it'll be hard to find a place to sleep! I've had my hotel reservations since August. Here's the website that can give you more info about the shows and which suppliers are showing where and when:

. Some of the shows are wholesale only, though, and you need to have proof of being a business before they allow you to go in. Make lots of copies of those business licenses to take with you! Mj

Thank you! Very helpful! Unfortunately, my seller's license won't be here by then :o( California is the land of Red Tape! I will look to see what there is that is not wholesale only. My best friend has her license already, and would come with me, if I asked, but I know a lot of shows like that won't even let you in the gate without showing your license.....

Have you been before? I'm wondering if there is anything neat to do in the city. I'd be bringing my DH and kids, and I know they won't want to hang out at a BEAD SHOW all day long ;o) LOL

In Alaska we can get our license by applying or renewing on line, and can print them out on our own cimputers.

Yes, I can fill out the form online, but I need to print it out, attach a copy of my driver's license (which I don't have yet, because it hasn't come in the mail yet), and mail it in. Then it needs to be approved, and they will mail me the license. I have the forms all filled out, but I need to wait for my driver's license to get to me, get it copied, and all that other stuff. I know when my friend got hers, she turned in the application in person, and it still took 6 weeks to get her license. Basically, she had to go back down to the Board of Equalization, and ask them for it, sit in the waiting room for an hour, and then they handed it to her. *shrug* They said it just takes time for the applications to get looked at, verified, and approved, then mailed; they did that while she was waiting the hour in the waiting room :-\

At least I know what to expect...

Here the business license commission suggests that you use your receipt until an official copy arrives.
