Nice People Co. Show

I got a card in the mail for the Nice People Co. for a show ("sale"? I think they're the only company at the "show"), and wondered if anyone here had been to one of their shows or bought beads from them before. They're advertising that if you buy $300 in beads, they'll give you $300 beads free... do they really? Beads of your choice, not theirs?

I'd just like to get some opinions about their product, etc. before my friends and I make the hour+ drive to their show and potentially drop them a lot of money.

and they seem to have a lot of shows in different places. Thanks! Karen snipped-for-privacy@linkline.com

Sorry for the multiple postings! My ISP balked, so I tried it from another email, and it turned out it posted four times. My apologies!

I've bought various beads from Peter at Nice People (and he IS nice people) many times. The quality of the beads is excellent, and the variety is mind-boggling. However, unless you DO take advantage of the $300 deal, I think his prices are rather high. When you view them in terms of thinking half-price, though, then they're pretty reasonable, though still no runaway bargain. And yes, YOU get to choose exactly what you want. I've done the $300 deal twice in the past 5 years and never regretted it. At any rate, have fun browsing!

Even at the $300/$300 deal is his prices are quite high when you consider that there are spacers between each bead, so you don't get a full 16" of beads. As an example, I have some 8mm Swarovski Siam Bicone from him that (at the 1/2 off price) work out to be 72 cents each. I have some of the same crystals from Artgems and paid 33 cents a bead. And that's taking into account shipping costs.

He does have a fabulous array of things - but be sure to calculate the per piece cost before spending you money. You can usually find the same things online for much less.

Hi Cheryl,

Can I ask why you say "DON'T"? That's a pretty strong one-word response!

Just curious, I need more info than just "don't". Is the quality poor, prices unreasonable, service bad, competitive with a company you prefer, did you feel cheated....?????

Please don't feel like I'm attacking your response; I can't gain understanding from just one word.

Thanks! Karen

Prices too high and when I found out how high, I know I felt cheated.

I emailed a private and complete answer to the original poster.

My reasons are that I fell for this "scam" from them myself when a relative innocent to bead buying. Later found out that I paid WAYYYY to much for what I bought. Also - as someone pointed out - the strands are spaced with cheap brass filler beads - that are pretty much worthless.... You are paying full price or better for what you are buying from them... They do have some unusual and sometimes "rare" stuff - if you must ABSOLUTELY have it... buy it - but DO NOT be tempted to push yourself over the $300 mark - so that you get the "free" beads. They ARE NOT FREE - you are paying full price for all of them...

Basically --- - -you are NOT GETTING $300 in free beads... remember this and keep repeating it to yourself.

Remember the old saying - anything that sounds too good to be true.... is too good to be true.
