We finished the Hemp Order!

and I am officially removing "local hemp Goddess" from my sig line! If I ever see another square knot again, it will be too soon! Oh, wait...MIL order 4 anklets..Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! I wanna do something else!!! *whine*

The pics are bad, and if you haven't guessed by now, we don't have a good camera at all. It's on the list:)

All in all, there were 73 pieces...4 styles of bracelets, and 3 styles of chokers. This was our first and last whole order. Never again!!!

What a huge amount of work. Congratulations on getting them completed.

OMG it took forever......about a month and a half. With two bead orders messed up, a child that threw up on a pile of ten pieces, and Dh getting a full time job (taking half of the workforce away) it wasn't easy. But we did it! We feel so accomplished now lol.

I think the way to deal with that is to upgrade materials. And of course we all need to continually increase our skills. If you/we do that there is a more realistic return for our time and money.

Oh yes! So very good. Mainly because I know we worked very hard on those designs (excepting the one design the customer wanted that is fairly generic..knot, knot, bead, knot, knot bead, etc), and we can be proud of them:)

About halfway thru it, I started having these dreams...involving me, Antonio Banderas, a four poster bed, and a whole slew of cotton rope...with...you guessed it.....square knot sinnets.

He actually managed to do it just as I was transfering the chokers from one sized bag to another. You know, that what, 3 minute time period? >

If a large order makes you feel weighed down, you might want to smaller orders for more money -- by upgrading your product and selling at a higher price.

aahhh now I see what you're saying! Thank you for clarification.

What really made us feel weighed down was the mass production aspect. When we first got started with making hemp jewelry, all of our designs were one of a kind. And when we accepted the order from this gentleman, we committed ourselves to mass producing those designs (excepting, as I said, the one generic design). It wasn't the fact that the order was large, it was what the order consisted of.

We know that those original designs were worth far more than we contracted to do them for, but please, keep in mind, at the time, DH was out of work, and we desperately needed the money.

We have since realized that while we may do the occassional hemp piece, we will not be focusing on it any longer. Both DH and I have found that our main interests lie elsewhere within the jewelry making world.

Does all that make sense? ~Candace~

Perfect sense. It means you are hooked on lampworked beads. :-) Diana heehee
