what brand of polymer clay do you like the most?

I just tried the Sculpey but is Fimo or any of the others better?

It all depends on what you want to do with your clay. All the clays have their own personalitys which make them better for one thing or another. There is a polymer clay newsgroup rec.crafts.polymer-clay where there are experts who can help you with all your polymer clay questions in more depth. Diana, not an expert, nor do I play one on TV

I have always used sculpey- mostly because it is softer and I do not have a pasta machine or rolling pin to use for things, so I like it fine... the fimo I have is unusable because I just cannot get it soft enough in my hands.... would love to try the new clays that can be torched to make real metal things!!!!!

I like Premo, personally. I"ve not tried Fimo or Fimo Soft or the newer Kato clay. I find Sculpey gets to soft for detailed canework.

I picked up a single-serving food processor thing at a dollar store a couple of years ago. With Fimo, I break it up into chunks and throw it in the food processor. It's much easier to work the crumbles together then.

My preference is Premo, as well, especially the pearlized colors.

Sculpey is the most brittle and breaks easily. Premo is made by the same American manufacturer (Polyform) but is much stronger and has great colors. Fimo. is also one of the stronger brands. Cernit is another strong clay very popular with dollmakers; its waxier in its color range rather than opaque. I have gone to using Premo most of the time. Sarajane
