She's been having some health issues of late and has been laying low of late. That, and her daughter is now of driving age....

She's still hanging in there - but Manda got MONO - and guess what... so did Kathy (not surprising since she takes so much prednisone, her immune system is probably suppressed some.) So right now she's a bit whipped. Before that she was having eye infection problems - and made reading on the computer difficult...

And once in a while, when I can't sleep, I take a peek onto the newsgroup. I don't read many messages (just peeking to make sure that old friends are here and posting), but the subject of this one was irresistable.

Things are about the same with me: I'm a happy little lab rat at a Major Boston Hospital, I can still walk (a little), but have to take my wheelchair when I leave home. Health problems have kept me from doing a whole lot of writing, which stinks, because that's my major form of communication. Vision problems have kept me away from the Delicas and the 15/0 beads, but I have done oodles of stringing and practicing the art of making the ends of the necklace/bracelet look at least as nice as the rest of it.

Bob is the same as well, although we fulfilled one of his lifetime desires a few months ago: I gave him a big honkin [I'm dying to say something obscene right here, but I'll be good] recliner. One of those Barcalounger type things that is bigger than our first apartment, has a mattress as a chair pad, and resembles a suburban throne. The remote controls to the television, et al, are in a wooden holder right beside the Throne of Bobness, and when he comes into a room, control of the entertainment system is automatically ceded to him. (If he changes channels during a program that Manda or I want to watch, he had better have asked Tivo to record the program.

Bob's returning from work routine has been altered to include his chair: come in back door and chide Manda for leaving it unlocked. Then he puts away his laptop, changes his work clothes into 'TV Watching Clothes,'gets dinner if we've already eaten, then plops himself into his own blue upholstered cloud from heaven. The only sign of Bob's being alive is the movement of his fingers on the clicker.

Manda is wonderful, terrific, and (please be seated) seventeen. She's now driving, taking a straight AP schedule this year, which will allow her to write off 7 college courses, as long as she passes the tests in the spring. Manda's also very active in Academic Decathlon, which has her learning more about China (from antquity to the present) than the kids in her school that are from China. This week she is 'heavy, deep and real,' as we used to call it, insisting that government and big business rule the world, and that the common man is nothing more than a rat in a maze. No, I'm not worried that she's horribly depressed, because she will have a new political theory next week. (She stayed up last night to make sure Saddam Hussein had been executed, which sounded darned gory to me.)

That's about all. The completed project area is looking thin after the Christmas Present Ravaging Season - you know, the one where your family members tell you about a friend who absolutely requires a gift, but doesn't quite rate a trip to the mall. ;-) I'll replenish the stocks over the next few weeks.

I hope that everyone here is happy and healthy, and that their beady projects are going spectacularly well.

at 7pm I sink into my space, a sofa with a clutter of beading mags and my latest project.

At present, wedding jewellery. My daughter is coming home to New Zealand from England to marry her Englishman, Paul They are returning but we will have fun when they are here and make lots of memories. I am busy weeding and planting flowers in her colours in the garden. March is between seasons here but we try.

Cheers, Jan
