Swarovski question for Kathy NV

Hey Kathy, remember a while ago when you were talking about the differences between Czech and Swarovski cut crystals? I was just thinking and wondering about that, because I noticed something that made me think. First, a question; can new, 4mm Swarovski bicones vary somewhat in shape from batch to batch? I have never noticed any variance before, but I have never used a whole lot of crystal before like I am now. I recently ordered crystal from several different sellers (other than my usual) just on a whim, and have noticed that some of the batches are "thicker" around the ends... they don't come to quite as delicate a taper. It's an almost imperceptible difference... but a difference nonetheless.

TIA!

Kalera, Be careful, the chinese are now making very good imitations of the famous "S" crystals. I have been told by my buyer in Hong Kong that they are difficult to tell apart unless you are very familiar with "S". Armand ps- email me off list with a list of colors, we have a plethora of 4mm bicones.

I have seen the Chinese ones in person and was not even a whit impressed... they might fool the unwary, but they don't hold a candle to the Swarovski!

I actually have no objection to using the Czech, but I don't want to pay Swarovski prices for them, not when I can buy them from Czechbeads.com for less than half what I'd pay for Swarovskis. Curiosity overtook me today and I actually ordered from them (so I should be stocked on crystals for the next six months!) so when my current stash of Swars runs out I'll start using them. We'll see how it goes!
