Rebekah auctions

This is NOT a criticism, but the pics up on the dichroic pendants in the Rebekah auctions, do not do them justice. Dichro is very hard to photograph and the pics on #1 show a lot of reflection which makes them look as if they have white or gray spots on them, which they don't. The prices are now at 1/3 to 1/2 of what I usually charge. I don't feel it is ethical to bid on something I've donated, but I hate to see them go for those prices. Also, the description is wrong, the holes go across (horizontally) rather than vertically, so you can hang them from a chain or use them as a centerpiece in a necklace. I just wanted to give you some extra information. This is in no way a complaint or a criticism of Kandice, please do not take it that way.Kandice is doing a wonderful thing by doing this. Patti

Patti -- you have to be able to let go if you are going to donate. Especially about the prices. There is something not right about donating someone (supposedly giving freely) and then complaining about it.

think it is important to give Rebekah's family as much as I can. Patti (who is not going to comment further)

A donation is just that. If you would like to see Rebekah get more money, perhaps you should just donate the amount you think your beads are worth.

Also, what makes the hole vertical vs. horizontal? Just because it was made one way, does that mean that I can't use it horizontally? A hole is a hole...it runs top to bottom or side to side, unless of course, it is a figural bead where it really matters.

Additionally, I don't see any dichro auctions 4Rebekah that end until Friday.

I just got home from 4 days away, and hadn't even looked at the auctions until I read your post.

Lots of people don't look or bid until the last day...I know I usually don't.

I can see that your holes are near the top, making it a "pendant", but I have drilled second holes in dichro to suit my needs, and have routed, to do wrapping.

Yes, for the sake of those who have not the desire to rework a pendant, knowing which way the hole runs could be important.

I was away for the weekend when this was posted, so that's why it took me so long to respond. First off, these are posted at low prices to avoid the high listing fees on ebay because these are not-for-profit auctions. The starting prices have been low on everything so that we can put every penny we are able to towards Rebekah. The starting prices don't reflect the quality of the items. I fully expect prices to go up - and for the most part they have. Second, whatever grey spots you see in the pictures are probably a result of my lighting - the glass is very reflective. I regret that I do not have the time to spend making the pics perfect on these because there are so many items to photograph. I put an equal amount of time in photographing everything I get. Last - I corrected the description the second it was brought to my attention - only a few hours after the auction started, but since the auctions had bids already, I had to add the correction to the bottom of the description. Patti - this does feel like a criticism - even if you didn't mean it that way. The pieces are beautiful - and I tried to make them appear so, but this post kind of hurts a little because I am putting a lot of time and effort into this.

Considering the time Kandice is putting into all this, I'm shocked *anyone* would have any criticisms. I don't see you volunteering to host and run charity auctions, Patti -- shame on you. ~~ Sooz

Patti clearly said this:

I thought that Patti was making corrections and as she said, extra information because she wants her donations to bring in more money for The Princess.

Just my .02 worth.

Patti clearly said: The pictures aren't good enough, the description is wrong and the prices are not high enough. How is that not criticism? Just saying afterwards that it is not criticism doesn't change the facts, LOL. Nice try.

Becki, we could argue semantics until the day is done but it won't change the fact that I read the post one way and you read it another.

Margie - it feels like criticism mostly because I made an effort to fix the description the minute I received Patti's email about the error in listing the hold direction, and I emailed her back letting her know I fixed it, and she still posted here. The way she worded it felt like criticism - especially since I feel the pictures are pretty decent and accurate representations of the work (after all, I have the items in my possession), and the prices now are not much lower than what she charges on her website. These are auctions - not buy it nows - the price is always low to begin with. Patti did not give me a suggested starting price, so I guessed at what I thought would be a good place to start. I don't understand why she felt the need to post this in the first place - nothing she said was not apparent in the auction as it stood at the time, so she wasn't giving information people could not have found on their own. That being said, I do appreciate Patti's donations - I appreciate everyone's and so do Rebekah and her family. I'm not trying to minimize that by discussing this. It's just that I feel Patti should have come to me if she thought something should have been addressed, instead of posting here pointing out all the faults in the auctions.
