Your Muse

How would you describe your Muse? Spiritual, a person? I always thought of a Muse in the old school way of painting, sculpture etc.: the "man artist" had a woman as his muse. This is the first forum of women artists, well the majority are women, that I have participated in. Those that speak of their muse, speak of it as a spiritual entity (I think). I used to think oh boo hoo I don't have a man to be my muse. But I have had men and women who taught me and inspired me in creative endeavors. Can you call on your muse? Like people pray to God? Or does it just appear and you feel the synchronicity. Or is it just an expression for a really creative productive period.

Just curious.

All the above for me Stephanie!

Sometimes it's an idea that forms and takes shape. Where does that come from? From within, it's a part of who I am and my muse is a part of me, my creative energy or spirit if you will.

Hanging out here inspires me greatly but what this group really inspires in me is to be good. No, that's not quite it, it's being the best I can be at the moment and reaching beyond, learning more, expanding my horizons. This feeds my muse, my creative spirit which I can call upon from time to time. I'm very thankful for that!

One thing I've noticed is that I'm much more creative and productive now that I'm not buying and hoarding my beads. So sometimes it's circumstances. :=)

YMMV

My Muse is a feeling I get - it comes over me at the strangest times - and seems to come from outside of myself. So, in reality, the Muse is like Divine guidance. A little push. A feeling of utter joy and happiness comes over me right after I get the idea or guidance - like a confirmation that yes, that's the way to go. Happens in the shower a lot. :)

Interesting topic. My muse has always been in my mind a female who is playful and naughty in a good way. She is mischievous and full of humor. I also think of Trinkett as sort of a muse. She gives me comfort when I'm not having a good day melting glass. She will come and sit by my side or in my lap when I'm stuck and then everything seems better.

Interesting question.

I think I am my own muse. That one's muse is that sweet voice inside of us that we can hear, and that can play with and inspire us, when we are quiet to the cares of our expectations, and open to the grace and poetry of the beauty that can be found everywhere.

When I was a child, I liked to lie on the grass, listening to the tiny insects and critters, looking at the world through a dew drop, staring without focus at a rock. Just soaking in all that sensual information. I think we have our muse with us when we perceive or express ourselves as a child again, fearlessly. But with improved skills.

I feel the same way, Tina.

I still do and that is why I like to be left alone to sit outside first thing in the morning or why I love listening to the wind in the trees or watching the clouds move across the sky.

So that's what happened! Dammit, I hate it when my muse is hanging out in France. ~~ Sooz To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. ~~Joseph Chilton Pearce

That's how my muse visits. But never in the shower. I know this sounds weird, but I get some of my best new ideas after great sex. Unfortunately, I'm in so much pain all the time that sex isn't even on the radar. If it was, would I get more done, or less?

Muse, Muse, Muse.........I've been trying to answer this ever since it was posted. trying to come up with a response that makes sense to more than just me.

Symmetry is my muse. Just as Asymmetry is my nemesis-muse. The beauty of a fully balanced piece of jewelry just fills me with glee. (Balance can be found in both symmetrical and asymmetrical deisgns, of course)

I also have muse-triggers--things I see or hear or read that jumpstart my muse into jumpstarting me! Other artists' designs or creations are often the culprit, as well as dreams and visions I receive on and off. Also, seeing a certain bead or group of beads can set my muse to work.

There, I think that came out coherently.

I feel the same way too, TIna, and to me, sitting on the deck first thing in the morning is a daily pleasure that I hate to miss. Since breaking my ankle I have more time to simply "contemplate" my world, as I often express to people. I also feel energized and inspired by the critters that inhabit the world outside mjy door, expecially the birds that live in the oak tree. Just last week one of the little hummers was hovering so close that I felt the wings brush my fingers. I know that I often stare at the river without focus. Other times, my creations appear in my mind's eye.

My Muse is a fiesty, ash-blond chick with a wicked sense of humor. She's a bit of a slave-driver, though, and she likes to give me a long list of to-do's and then flit off somewhere unreachable just when I have a question. She can also tend to be moody and ignore me if I've somehow imperceptibly slighted her.

I try to keep her in wine and roses, but even so... she's prone to tantrums.

Mind you, she's completely imaginary and is an entity I've conjured to explain my creative vagaries.
