Hat/Cap hoop

I am interested in purchasing a hat hoop for my designer 1 machine and was wondering which one would be the best. I have seen the Alpha sew and the Hoop it all and not quite sure which one would be the best. Any input would be greatly appreciated. TIA!!!

I have one similar to the Hoop It All but it rests inside the size B Janome Hoop. Has the two thumbknobs to press the brim flat as does some of the Hoop It Alls. Hardest part is flattening the front of the cap down to get a good field to sew on. Plus you need to fold the small inside forehead band outside and staple it to the brim so it is out of the way. Then you put the Sulky Sticky+ on the bottom of the hoop, align the top seam (preferably a cap with a solid front fabric), and stick the hat down on top of the thing with the inside folded out.

Also, a digitizing program may be needed as the design bends upward around the brim seam. It is not straight! Never noticed it until I put a straight edge against one embroidered cap and saw the curve, maybe a 1/4" sag in the middle. I put the downward bow in with Jasc PaintShop 8 using their warp tool and then ran the image through the machine's digitizer program and then sized it. It takes a while and the design may be only 3" wide and around 2

1/2" tall. Anything larger and the foot may strike the edges of the folded cap and the stitching will be off. That is my biggest problem, getting the thing flat and providing relief for the embroidery foot.

I found the tracing function of the Janome 10000 to be of help as well as putting a false triangle stitch pattern (basting stitch) around the outside of my design and seeing if the foot will run well inside the triangle where the actual pattern is.

Get some practice hats first and a lot of Sulky Sticky+. I cut it to 8" x

8' squares for the hoop.

Haven't fed a foamed front cap through it yet but I am this weekend to see how that goes.

I agree with B. Peg, the hoop it all is a great device, but follow her suggestions, I learned the hard way by sewing the sweatband to the design! I use hoop-it-alls on my Singer XL and on my Brother PE150. It is a separate hoop though, not resting inside like the Janome. The hoops works great on both, I love the sticky stablizer, you get a true flat surface, but hats are hard to flatten as was mentioned. I use this hoop for as much work as I can. I like not having to "hoop" the conventional way, no more hoop burns, trying to get drum-tight, etc. I don't think I would buy the alphasew because I prefer the hoop-it-all method of embroidery. Have fun!

Hoop it all is a better product than the Alpha Sew but what yoiu should do is use Wet N Set as a stabilizer instead of regular peel and stick Wet N set activates w only alittle bit of water-- no residue on needles or hoops You can even stick it to the hoop

Pls e-mail me direct for samples

Fred, I saw this on your website and it sounds pretty nifty. I am tired of cleaning the gummy residue from my hoop!

Are your company's products available retail and if so, is there a list of brick and mortar stores or an online source for retailers?

Thanks, Pearl

I sent you my address and never received anything, are you just compiling a mailing list for future use or did I "fall through the cracks"?
