hemstitching??

Hello; I'm new to the group and quite new to sewing. I make lace and I like to attach it to linen doilies and other pieces of fabric. So far I bougth ready hemstitched fabric in which to attach my lace but now I have a big project for a wedding present (a big table cloth) and it'll be far too expensive to buy ready made hemstitched doilies IF I could find the right size. So I'm thinking of hemstitching my own fabric.I already bought the fabric, cut rounds pieces but... how do you actually do the hemstitching?? Can you do it with a basic sewing machine?

I did find a web site in US when somebody actually do this in other peoples's fabrics. Is there somebody who dies that in the UK?

Thanks in advance

I have a hemstitching and picoting attachment for my old Singer machines, and even have a specialized two-needle hemstitching machine - made by Singer - very old. But I don't know if there is a modern attachment that would work on your machine. Maybe someone else knows.

Hemstitching on a sewing machine is usually done with a wing needle and one of the decorative stitches. Here is a reference to hemstitching on a basic sewing machine.

Do you think that I'd be able to do hemstitching with a Husqvarna Viking embroidey.sewing machine?

Check the stitch chart for your machine. I bet you have a built-in hemstitch designed for a wing needle.
