Trouble writing to programmable card

I have 4D Emb. extra and a Rose machine with reader/writer. I purchased a programmable card but can't write to it. Does anyone know if it is because 4D and my Rose reader/writer are not compatible? What can be the problem? Suggestions? Help!

There are a number of potential issues. Your best bet would be to talk to the dealer from whom you bought the software and the reader/writer.

Which version of Windows are you using? Are you using a USB reader/writer? Is it a laptop or desktop computer? What type of USB host controller does the computer have? Did you install the device drivers from the 4D Extra CD? When you first plugged in the reader/writer after installing the drivers, did you get the "found new hardware" notice and the "new hardware installation wizard" and point it to the folder where the drivers were installed from the CD?

When I upgraded my computer to Win XP I could not use my Rose software at all, until I had Win 98 installed as well as the XP. I bought the 3D software because I could not use the new r/w I'd bought with the old software. I haven't tried using the "wrong" card with the wrong r/w, but I've been told that the old one won't work with the new r/w, I'm not sure about vice versa.

I should think if your card is the new one, marked with a number 54 or similar, it won't work with the old R/W. It has a much bigger capacity, for one thing. I'm not at home, so can't check anything, and my old r/w has not been in use, so I haven't tried to programme the new card on it. I'm still getting used to the new software, which is so different from the old.

I'm no authority, but I think you'll have to get the new r/w to use with your 4D software. You can Email me if we can get together (electronically) to discuss the problems, but it may be a few days before I go home, when my husband is out of hospital.
