Which Machine

I am looking at buying my first embroidery machine but not sure which one to go for. I would prefer a combo as space is a bit limited.

I want to be able to do lots of things on it, not to be limited. One thing I especially want is to be able to do Disney on my childrens clothes but Brother machines seem to be the only machines with Disney on them. Is there any good Disney patterns out there for other machines or is it possible to makes good quality Disney copies with the designer programs?

I do have a lot of crosstitch charts for Disney, how much success would I have using these?

I only want to buy one machine so I want to get it right first time, not to spend a lot of money for something that will not do what I want it for.

Can anybody reccommend what I should buy, I dont mind paying a bit more if I get value for money.

Thanks, Les.

Brother has the Exclusive License for Disney so that means that you can only get Disney designs on a Brother Machine or compatible card.

It is true that brother have the disney Licence but dont let that sway you into buying a brother machine you can pick up disney designs all over the internet and transfer them to any machine. I had many years of frustration and poor back up with my bother machine. If you learn a digitising programe then it is possible for you to digitise lietrally anything, dont forget the copywrite laws though, There again you are not actually allowed to sell anything that you produce from a licenced brother machine!

The Janome 300E is one of the better embroidery only machines on the market, it has a larger embroidery area then the brother embroidery only machines 5.5" x 7.9" and its £699 in the UK you can see more detilas on my dealers website

biggest plus is you dont need any expensive software or writerboxes to get the designs over to the machine you need a compact flashcard, and a card writer if your pc doesnt have one, you can pick upeverything you need for around £20 I have the Janome 10000 machine and the embroidery on the 300E is comparible to that machine

What you need to do is visit shops in your area and TRY machines of various make. Ask a lot of questions and decide for yourself which machine to buy.
