Pricing problem

Residential entryways/bath windows pricing?

A while back somebody posted a formula for pricing using a base cost per square foot and adding a factor for complexity/ number of pieces. Anybody remember what it was or could you repost it?

Using a palette of Spectrum clear textures, generic glue chip, and stock bevels with stretched lead came, cemented panels, what kind of pricing are you currently doing for production work?

Local millwright has asked me to bid on building door panels/sidelights at a volume of about one entryway every third day from "generic" designs.

I really don't know where to start with the pricing.

After all these years you're puzzled? The real question is how much do you want the job, isn't it? Will doing production work at 1/2 your regular prices make you happy? Do you need the work? Do you want to take on help to make more money? I got the impression you wanted the freedom to charge high end, and do what you wanted with each day? We work for $250/sqft. Basement guys will do it for $100/sqft. Chinese will do it for $10sqft. At 57 I'm ready to wind it down, and production work doesn't appeal to at all.

I go strictly by the piece, but increase price per... depending on size, intricacy, type of glass. Then i add for framing or installation. I think glassman has a point, tho. Do you really want the work? m

using this calculator make sure you edit the default cost valuesas they're based on the going rate for glass jobs around SW Ontariowhich, sadly, is a lot less than what's being charged in the U.S. Bart.
