Stained Glass Door Insert

To all of you who so graciously shared your experience, your knowledge and your thoughts a few weeks back, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I you followed the thread, despite some conflicting opinions, each and every suggestion was given much thought and careful comparison. And all the information after digestion and preparing a summary, I conferred with the couple. She was the person who chose the two sketches and approved the colors and samples. A nice working Registered Nurse who agreed with the triple glazing and a pneumatic door closer as absolutely neccesary. She even agreed with my estimate and accepted the fact that if I did the installation, I would guarantee my work.

Then, her husband, a retiree (like myself) who also is a top-notch perfectionist, stated that he didn't think that triple galzing was neccesary; he was fully capable of doing the install; and didn't want to do business with me unless he could see my shop. This went on for a week or so. And each encounter got worse. There was no satisfying him.

So - I did him a favor!!! I suggested a fellow glass artist and shop owner, who accpeted the job, charged him almost twice as much and demanded that she do the installation. She is a friend, who does beautiful work and I buy a lot of "stuff" from her. The next time I saw her, she chewed me out for not taking the job, as she thinks my work is good enough to start charging more for the finished piece. Thanks to you guys, the customer's stubborness, and the shop owners recommendation, I have learned a lot from all concerned - and have upgraded my pricing! HAPPY NEW YEAR - EVERYBODY!
