Summer Vacation

Finally delivered my last big job before a well deserved vacation next week. We're taking my last of 3 kids upstate to college, and will be empty nesters finally! A stop over in Niagara Falls and then off to Vegas for a few days to break the bank. This is the time of year that I actually clean up the shop. Change the homosote over, put back ALL the tools where they belong, and vacuum the lead dust up. I may even mop the floor! Since retail has dried up, I've been selling down my stock to bare essentials. I may even consolidate some space, and build that sandblasting station I've always wanted. Anyway, since it's been so quiet here, I thought I'd ask you folks if you're doing anything cool this summer?

I finally got around to cleaning out a spot in the basement to set up my enameling stuff. I had gotten interested in enameling awhile back and bought all the stuff, but never did set up a workbench and kiln area. As soon as I get that all set up, I'm going to break out all the silversmithing tools and supplies I inherited from my Dad and have a go at that craft, too.

And I bought a wood lathe the other day....as if I didn't already have enough toys.

I took some time out to build a new light table and start a much needed clean up of my work space....my wife is grateful of that....other than that I am learning to relax and enjoy life....my oldest boy is in Germany and my youngest just moved into his own house so I think the wife and I are going to make some plans for the extra room we now have....

So you're going to become a "nitwit no-talent" powdered glass fuser? Does that mean you have less brain cells than a "nitwit no-talent" lampworker!

Actually, the phrase is "nitwit no-talent BEADMAKER", dumbass.

Just spent seven days in the slot canyons of SE Utah. Hiking by day and planting at night. Planting my ass in a camp chair, drinking beer, and looking at the Milky Way. No moon, the stars were brilliant.

Came back to find that nobody did my work while I was gone.
