Virus/Trojans

Jan 30, 2004 23 Replies

One of the glass vendors must be infected with the latest virus/trojan. I'm getting loads of emails into one of my business email accounts that only gets used for corresponding with vendors.

Be careful of any emails that have an attachment(s) that are ~31KB in size.

Probably a virus running on a different computer inserts your email address into the sender:-field. There are a lot of braindead mailscanners that do not check this address with the originating IP-number, so /you/ get the return fire...

Big attack on the company that owns the rights to Linux here in Utah. It will come in a zip file from someone you know.

This firm does /not/ repeat /not/ own the rights to Linux, although they try to blackmail the community with it.

Matter of opinion. Same opinion as those who made the attack. I don't care one way or another.

...

But I do. In cases like these, if you spread rumours from hearsay, you help one party in the dirty work. So read up or shut up.

So read up or shut up.

Oh I so love this s*it,, OR what wise ass, you've had opinions on how to do what and what's good for everything... so what you gonna do if someone doesn't shut up?

You going to expound upon your great intelligence? Develop a theory about whatever?

I can hear it no, "THIS IS THE WAY IT IS, AND IF YOU DON'T AGREE, SHUT UP"

Only two names in my kill file, and your one of them, wish you would go back and climb under your rock.

Oh, please don't put me in your killfile; I will not be able to eat or sleep until you let me out of it again!

Let me guess who the other one is?

Mike Savad?

Easy now. I happen to be in Salt Lake where the reports may be more favorable to the local company. Maybe not. I doubt that many in a glass forum care who or why they get infected. If you're going to be so adamant about your position I would suggest you post some links to support that position. I'm willing to read it. I cite the Deseret News and TV news as my source. Citation please? Put up, shut up, or take it to a computer group.

OT alert, but anybody interested in the SCO-Linux case could do worse than read the Groklaw pages

The writer is definitely not on the hand of SCO, but she is extremely well-documented and lucid, and seems to know what she is talking about, law-wise. Or so it seems to me.

No, I don't want to go into computerstuff here, except when provoked by earlier unqualified posts.

Oh, my god. Linux fanatics are enough to make me want to throw our Linux computer out the window to disassociate myself from them.

That is not fair. I do some effort to keep things on-topic, but don't I have the right to at least to try and put things right if another person says incorrect things?

Wait a minute. You haven't established that I said anything incorrect, just that you have a different viewpoint on the subject. You have only pointed out that there are people who do not agree with SCO. That doesn't make them right. The matter is or will be litigated I suppose.

Yes, whatever. I consider that thread as closed and rightly so, because it /is/ off-topic here, and we both have stated the information we wanted.

I do object against bigots who pounce on every opportunity to complain about OT messages, sneaking in insults and doubling the OT traffic in the bargain.

I guess you must find your Usenet experience a very frustrating one, eh?

Is this really necessary?

No, but I don't want to be pissed upon by the aforementioned bigots for posting off-topic and thus sinning against the all-holy charter...

What the f*ck are you bleating about? Somebody disagreeing with you is now "pissing on you"?

Basically, Jack, who posts as "njb" just handed you your ass in the discussion. And now you want to whine.

As I said, "you must find your Usenet expericence a very frustrating one, eh?".

And in the interest of keeping MY Usenet experience a good one...."Congratulations". You just went "PLONK". Buh, bye.
