What is 'slumping'?

Question

I hear it talked about, but never defined.

I get the gut feeling it's laying a piece of glass over a mould, then heating in a kiln till the glass take the form of the mould. Close? Am I even spelling mould right? :-)

yes.in the US, it would be mold. in the UK, it would be mould.see  for a tutorial on this subject.

The simple answer is that it is taking glass to the point that it changesshape but does not change detail of form.[The simpler answer is that you are right.]Fusing is taking bit or shapes of glass and heating them until they more orless melt together.Sagging doesn't go this far.  The glass used in sagging may have been fusedpreviously to form a color pattern (like make a checker board) or design(make a picture on a solid background.)It is possible to fuse into a mold, doing both steps at once with lesscontrol.
