My son`s ex-wife`s aunt is 70 next year, and I want to do her a cross stitch picture (Not quite as complex as TW, and definitely not an MLI) but, on the other hand not TOO simple. Any suggestions? It just wants to be a bit special and probably flowery.

My standard 80 year old gift is a hardanger butterfly mounted on an 8" gold hoop to hang in the window. They always love it. The pattern is out of Anna Magazine I think.

If she likes flowers, do one of Silver Linings Roses or any other flower !! The first project of which I have a record that I did on Evenweave was one of the cat's eyes and flower pictures. I have rescued it back from the MIL, and I may have a chart. I think they were published as a group, but they were alsoin an old magazine. It wasn't a lot of work, but looked stunning. I will take a picture, and email you!

I'd second doing any of the Silver Lining's flowers. They are large, but they are most definitely worth the time taken to stitch them. John Clayton's Flower Panels and Window Flowers Collection, from Heritage Stitchcraft, are beautiful. Thea Gouverneur also has some nice pieces, and Eva Rosenstand, though they're more traditional in style. Lanarte has lots of flowers too.
I know Sew and So carries all of these, so I'm sure your favourite supplier can get them too!
