a note from Cheryl Isaak

I got this from Cheryl a little while ago....

Would you do me a favor - my mainframe died in last night's power outage AND I managed to get an infection in my hand via a wasp sting. Would you post a note to rctn and let them know I am alive but unable to post. My hand is ready for another dose of ice and my antibotic.

Cheryl

I don't understand Macs. Does her mainframe dying mean she is just unable to post, but can still receive email ? I sent her an email anyway, just wondered if she would get it.

Jere, pass along my sympathy and best wishes for a quick recovery for her hand and her mainframe, if you are in contact with Cheryl again. Thank you. Regards, Carey in MA

I don't think it has anything to do with whether she's using a Mac or a Windows box. Mainframe=server. If the server goes down, whether in your house or at the ISP, you have no service.

Probably not, at least until the server is back up, and then only if it doesn't get lost in the queue.

She can receive emails, but doesn't want the frustration of posting via Google with a lap top. I just heard from her.

Hi!

I could read email via mail2web on the laptop and the wireless connection in the house! sometimes there are advantages to 3-4 functioning computers! trying to deal with newsgroups on the laptop that was beyond me!
