Abbreviations not found in craft books

Back in March I asked what the abbreviation S.E.X. stood for and other acronyms. I was nicely answered and one person suggested a UK site that had a list of them. Now I have tried the site and it has gone to site heaven or wherever sites disappear to. So... I would like to compose a list of abbreviations and terms that we all use but that some may not know. NOT the general kind like LOL or ROTFLMAO. These I did find several sites for. I mean the ones we use here on RCTN.

What I have so far are:

Frogging - the un-doing or ripping out of stitches ( rip-it, rip-it )

FUFO = Finished UnFramed Object

LTR = Long Term Rotation

PFH = Project From Hell (or Heck for those of cleaner language)

SABLE = Stash Acquisition Beyond Life Expectancy

S.E.X. (always with the periods, if you please!) = Stash Enhancement eXperience, i.e., shopping

SAL - Stitch ALong

TW - Teresa Wentzler

UFO = UnFinished Object

WIP - Works In Progress

XS - Xross Stitch ( cross stitch )

Please give me your input. There are still some I don't know and I'm not sure I have SAL right.

Here is a site that is for crocheters and other abbreviations, too. Some would apply to us.

I forgot Orts and LNS. I'll add them to the list.

On my quilting group, we also have PIGS, which could be relevant here (for some of us) as well.

PIGS = Projects In Grocery Sacks

Larisa, who has a couple of these, cloth> I forgot Orts and LNS.

Perhaps it's just me, but I like it MUCH better without the periods.

This was a direct copy from a response to my question at that time of what does SEX mean. After I hit the send button I realized my error and promptly sent another clarifying that I meant S.E.X.

Some of these responses are so... LOL!!!

Seriously though, I do want to make a good list for the newbies and for those of us un-informed oldies. (Grin)

There also used to be P.I.M.P for Person Inspiring Multiple Purchases. This seems to have fallen out of use, especially since the word "enabling" has become common.

Well, I suspect it's because that's one of those words like "I'm thrifty, he's a penny-pincher."

As in: Helen P.I.M.P.ed 30 cards of RG fibers into my shopping basket. I enabled Helen into half a dozen expensive reproduction sampler charts.

I like the distinction. :)
