Any word from Olwyn Mary?

Tia Mary -

Any word from Olwyn Mary? Is she out of the hospital yet? Being away from home is miserable, and being sick while away from home is worse! Been thinking about her.

I haven't talked with her since last weekend. I must assume she is still in hospital or she would have either called me or e-mailed. I'll leave myself a note to call her tomorrow. After that, I will let you know what her prognosis is. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Hi: Discharged from hosp day before yest., with visiting nurse coming daily. In home of same friends near Lake Charles. Rita coming close now, but nowhere to evacuate to. Friends have bought a generator, which will power my nebulizer among other things if power goes off. Will write proper report in a day or two, Rita permitting. Thanks for thinking of me.

Excuse us? 3000 people on RCTN offer you their guest rooms and you have "nowhere to evacuate to"?

I can see TiaMary and the cavalry charging in to haul you back to her house.

So good to hear from you! And relieved that you have a generator for the nebulizer...one of my great fears has always been that my daughter would need her nebulizer during a power outtage (used to be frequent in m y neighborhood; less in recent years, thank goodness!). Hunker down and take care.

I have two kinds of portable nebulizers, one of which has a plug that goes into the cigarette lighter in the car and another that has both the car plug and a battery pack that when fully charged will last about three days and can be charged from the car as well. If you're interested, write me off line and I'll give you the brand names.

Sorry to add to my own message, but I forgot to say hooray that Olwyn Mary is doing well. Glad to hear such good news. Lucille

If you use a nebulizer, a voltage inverter and a car battery can power it for you in a pinch, e.g.:

can many UPS power systems for computers. The inverter we keep in thecar for travel was $40. Make sure you get one that has enough "oomph"to run the nebulizer... the one on hand here requires 2.5A at 115V, or287 Watts -- so we bought a 400 W inverter. Also, there are battery powered nebulizers available.
