Olwyn Mary is R.I.P. 8*-{

Hello All, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I just got a phone call from Kenneth Riddell telling me that Olwyn Mary had passed away suddenly on

28 Nov which was last Sunday. I don't know anything else except that is was unexpected!! Actually, I had a difficult time understanding him. All I really heard was that my name was in her addy book so he phoned me to let me know. After hanging up, I checked the name & phone number (kept on my call screening machine) and then looked in my phone book and it was that for Olwyn Mary!!!! I'm sitting here stunned and waiting for the other shoe to fall since bad news *always* seems to have company. I'll have to make sure I send a card at least. Oh my -- she was such a talented woman and did lovely needlework. Last time we were in New Orleans, we had dinner with her & Kenneth and then went to their home for coffee. She had absolutely beautiful knitting, etc. displayed -- all things that she had done. Her famiy will have a very sad Holiday this year. Prayers for them is all I can give them and it just seems not enough. Keep loved ones near your heart -- you NEVER know when one of them might be taken away!!!! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I am so sorry to learn that. WE may not always have agreed, but it is so sad to hear of people passing away..especially if it is sudden.

Bobbie, I am sorry to hear of Aya's miscarriage. I always have a feeling that when that happens, maybe there is a medical reason, which is, as yet, unknown. I know my DD had three miscarriages..but also delivered three healthy children.

To add to the doom and gloom, my DFIL died on Nov 22nd, the day before their wedding anniversary. He was 98, so had more than his allotted time span, I guess!

My family has always had a tradition that bad things happen in 3's. OM's passsing, Ayako's loss, and your FIL's death pretty well fills out the card. God willing, we'll not see more serious grief in the near future.

A Blessing to all those who mourn.

Sorry to hear about the miscarriage, but like Gillian, I believe it probably was meant to be for a good reason.

OMG is right. I am so stunned to hear Olwyn Mary is gone. That is a terrible loss for our news group, the needle work community, and her family. I will miss her posts. Equally stunned to hear about Aya's misscarriage. I agree with Gillian that even thopugh this is extremely sad it probably happened for a reason. I hope she is doing ok mentally. It's been a pleasure every time I have seen her and I wish her all the best. I am also sorry for your loss Gillian. Your DFIL had a nice long life, but it's always sad to see someone go.

You had your own sadness this year, Cheryl. It is great having people who care. How is your Mother doing?

So sad, thank you so much for sharing this news. So sorry, really to learn of this, what a shock. This is the first message I've seen - assuming that someone has the addy info to send cards, et. Wow. Kind of stunning. Just the week before a member of mine & Donna's guild chapters suddenly lost her husband - just makes you think.

I'm sure we'll all miss Olwyn Mary's lively conversation, and wonderful experiences in stitching and life that she shared with us. Not much else to say.

Sorry to hear about Ayoko's miscarriage - and of Gill's DFIL. Seems a thoughtful holiday season for us all, to think of departed ones, and share some hugs and warm thoughts.
